“A competitor will find a way to win. Competitors take bad breaks and use them to drive themselves just that much harder. Quitters take bad breaks and use them as reasons to give up. It’s all a matter of pride.” -Nancy Lopez

Prejudice-Defined

There is nothing worse than finding out one of your best friends has been in cahoots with the enemy. The icky feeling just thinking about betrayal and back stabbing just will not subside. I have been trying to piece this mystery together the past couple days and it has not been easy.

I have really had to put my pride to the side and think about why in the world a friend of mine would choose people who have been malicious to me in the past over me in the present. The hurt has kept me up at night and the anger has not allowed me to rest much either. Supposedly these people have come to my friend’s aid in times of need and therefore I should be somewhat accepting of their new alliance. I was dooped out of employment by one of these knights in shining armor and in constant turmoil when working by the other. Now both have managed to slither their way into one of my closest friends good graces and I have been completely pushed out of the scenario.

Luckily for me, I have God and His Word to knock some sense into my pounding head. If I allow myself to feel jealous, angry, or betrayed I am in turn giving the enemy and these people exactly what they want. If I allow my pride and prejudice to fade then I am able to see the situation clearly and take a deep breath of relief.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar (Proverbs 30:5 – 30:6 NKJV)

I am not concerned with petty disputes or re hashing past hurts. I am not interested in going backwards into the trap of who I was or where I have come from. All of these people reside in the part of my life I have outgrown and happily left behind. I must admit it was not easy to let it go, but now that I have I cannot keep from laughing about the whole thing! So silly, pride.

You see, it does not matter what you feel about people or situations like this. Facts speak for themselves. Be true to truth and you are real. Give in to the fake and you become part of the lie. If you find a few false in the path of your truth, keep moving. They may present themselves for a fading moment, but your light will remove the shadows they temporarily cast in the long run.

God is so very real and He is the best friend anyone can have. He will not change His mind about the worth of your friendship. He will not flip a switch on and off when it comes to respecting you. He is all the time, all about you.
Pride will destroy the most important relationship you have with yourself and cause prejudice inside of your own heart. Do not waste precious moments on petty nonsense. People try very hard to get you to quit, but God effortlessly prevents that from happening when you listen!
Be happy, be bright, be you! When a liar tells a fib do not lie. When a snake enters the room simply smile as it slithers by. Time will reveal the truth you feel. Haters were meant to lurk at your heel.

“There is a set of harmless liars, frequently to be met with in company, who deal much in the marvellous. Their usual intention is to please and entertain; but as men are most delighted with what they conceive to be the truth, these people mistake the means of pleasing, and incur universal blame.” -David Hume

  1. Have you ever thought about being a Christian motivational speaker, or a youth counselor. The messages of hope, healing and living are very encouraging. You remind me of my son.
