Oblivion: The Deadliest of Plagues

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV)

ignorant

Futile and fumbling we all need to be saved;
Arrogantly and ignorantly, that’s how we’ve always behaved.
Yet we act like we are so powerful;
We fake it like it’s real.
We curse the remedy to our suffering;
We prefer to remain in our sickness instead of ask for the One who can heal.
Pointless riddles have become our favorite past time;
Truth is hidden under foot.
Every step we take in pride lead us farther from our roots.
God forgive them…
The “wise”, the “mighty”, the ones who assume they are ahead;
The ones who would willingly waltz right into hell than into your kingdom if they simply learned to be led.
Have You not made foolish the wisdom of this world?
Why can’t they see they will come to nothing?
All the labels, all the empires, all the hatred…. All for nothing?

michaek

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

God thank You for Your Power, thank You for your grace;
Help us frail human beings to stand firm in this place.
The devil has deceived so many, just like I was once led far away from You;
Convinced them that their idea of knowledge somehow makes what they understand to be true.
A lie is never the truth even if told a thousand times;
What we see isn’t what we always get, God help them read between the lines.

For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.“ For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 15:3 – 15:6 NKJV)

The Gospel aka the Good News, God why won’t they just receive?
We will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ, regardless of what we believe.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation (2 Corinthians 1:3-1:7 NKJV)

God, You make beauty from ashes, a message of our mess;
Help all to hear You in the darkness and let them all confess….
That they cannot be You in any way; they must be able to be led.
That they labor in vain to reach Your heart because Christ’s blood has already been shed.
Sound the alarm God, please wake this world from their sleep;
You have promised us redemption in Jesus;
Every promise You make, you keep.

Get right with God before you get left;
Forever in your worst nightmare and a victim of identity theft.
The devil may be a liar, but what then does that make you?

Easily fooled and only left out of God’s kingdom because you CHOSE to….listen to yourself instead of to your creator; To accept that Jesus came to rectify your selfishness and your reckless behavior.

WAKE UP WORLD!

God loves you. Do you love Him back? Get honest with yourself and let Christ give you what you lack….

But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. (2 Corinthians 1:4-7)

Cabbages and Kings

I have been a fan of Author, Lewis Carroll my entire life. In fact, his work has played a major part in my wanting to become a writer myself.
Lewis Carroll not only captivates his readers, but also literally takes them captive through his use of mind twisting allegory and his play on words.

Jesus, much like the poems and writings of Carroll, also used parables as means of ministering to groups of people because it made His teachings easier for them to understand. Ironically, many fail to see the meaning behind the story and only take away from the lesson just that… A story.

Behind every fable there is a fact.
Behind every parable there is a point.
I thought it would be interesting to demonstrate how, if we learn to read beyond the words we read or hear, we
can find invaluable wisdom and moral guidance.

Many do not know the very real story behind Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland. Many do not know his personal connection to each character and in turn they see it merely as a children’s book.

The Walrus And The Carpenter brilliantly shows us the heart of the arrogant man and the nativity of the innocent. It warns us not to trust what man says and what happens when we follow our own advice.

God will never tempt you away from safety and allow the wilderness to devour you. The enemy on the other hand will lead you right into his dining room and have you as his main course!

Do not be arrogant. Do not follow fools.
Seek God in all situations. Let the Bible be your tool.

Man thinks he has it all, but without God he has nothing. No king, president, or ruler can ever eradicate sickness or suffering, yet God willingly does so.

God is the sovereign ruler of the universe and His kingdom shall reign forever. Don’t build castles in the sand and expect them to stand.
God is God. Man is just man.

THE WALRUS AND THE CARPENTER

Tweedle Dum:
The sun was shining on the sea
Shining with all his might

Tweedle Dee:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright

Tweedle Dum:
And this was odd because it was

Both: The middle of the night

20140208-090407.jpg

Tweedle Dee:
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand

Tweedle Dum:
The beach was wide
From side to side
But much too full of sand

Carpenter:
Mr. Walrus!

Tweedle Dee:
Said the Carpenter

Carpenter:
My brain begins to perk
We’ll sweep this clear
In ‘alf a year
If you don’t mind the work

20140208-090421.jpg

Walrus: Work?!
The time has come…

Tweedle Dee: The Walrus said

Walrus:
To talk of other things
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax
Of cabbages and kings
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings
Calloo-Callay
No work today!
We’re cabbages and kings

20140208-090435.jpg

20140208-090448.jpg

Oh, uh, Oysters, come and walk with us
The day is warm and bright
A pleasant walk
A pleasant talk
Would be a sheer delight

Carpenter:
Yes, should we get hungry on the way
We’ll stop and, uh, have a bite

Walrus: Ahem!

Tweedle Dum:
But Mother Oyster winked her eye
And shook her heavy head
She knew too well this was no time
To leave her Oyster bed

20140208-090503.jpg

20140208-090518.jpg

Mother Oyster:
The sea is nice,
Take my advice
And stay right here

Tweedle Dee:
Mum said

Walrus: Yes, yes, of course, of course, but, uh, ha, ha!
The time has come, my little friends
To talk of other things
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax
Cabbages and kings
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings, ha ha
Callo-Callay
Come, run away
With cabbages and kings!

Well, now, uh, let me see
Ah, a loaf of bread is what we chiefly need!

Carpenter:
Listen, how ’bout some pepper and salt and vinegar, eh?

Walrus:
Well, yes, yes, splendid idea, ha ha!
Very good, indeed
Now, if you’re ready, Oysters, dear
We can begin the feed

20140208-093135.jpg

Oysters: Feed??!

Walrus: Oh, yes…
The time has come, my little friends
To talk of food and things

Carpenter:
Of peppercorns and mustard seeds
And other seasonings!
We’ll mix ’em all together
In a sauce that’s fit for kings
Calloo-Callay
We’ll eat today
Like cabbages and kings!

Walrus: I, uh…
I, I weep for you. I (hic), oh excuse me
I deeply sympathize
For I’ve enjoyed your company, oh much more
Than you realize

Carpenter:
Little Oysters? Little Oysters?

Tweedle Dee:
But answer, there came none

Tweedle Dum:
And this was scarcely odd because

Both:
They’d been eaten
Every one!

Walrus: Hm… Well, uh… Ha, ha. Ha, ha. Ha, ha. Ahem, uh… The time has come!

Tweedle Dee and Dum: With cabbages and kings!

Pride and Prejudice

“A competitor will find a way to win. Competitors take bad breaks and use them to drive themselves just that much harder. Quitters take bad breaks and use them as reasons to give up. It’s all a matter of pride.” -Nancy Lopez

Prejudice-Defined

There is nothing worse than finding out one of your best friends has been in cahoots with the enemy. The icky feeling just thinking about betrayal and back stabbing just will not subside. I have been trying to piece this mystery together the past couple days and it has not been easy.

I have really had to put my pride to the side and think about why in the world a friend of mine would choose people who have been malicious to me in the past over me in the present. The hurt has kept me up at night and the anger has not allowed me to rest much either. Supposedly these people have come to my friend’s aid in times of need and therefore I should be somewhat accepting of their new alliance. I was dooped out of employment by one of these knights in shining armor and in constant turmoil when working by the other. Now both have managed to slither their way into one of my closest friends good graces and I have been completely pushed out of the scenario.

Luckily for me, I have God and His Word to knock some sense into my pounding head. If I allow myself to feel jealous, angry, or betrayed I am in turn giving the enemy and these people exactly what they want. If I allow my pride and prejudice to fade then I am able to see the situation clearly and take a deep breath of relief.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar (Proverbs 30:5 – 30:6 NKJV)

I am not concerned with petty disputes or re hashing past hurts. I am not interested in going backwards into the trap of who I was or where I have come from. All of these people reside in the part of my life I have outgrown and happily left behind. I must admit it was not easy to let it go, but now that I have I cannot keep from laughing about the whole thing! So silly, pride.

You see, it does not matter what you feel about people or situations like this. Facts speak for themselves. Be true to truth and you are real. Give in to the fake and you become part of the lie. If you find a few false in the path of your truth, keep moving. They may present themselves for a fading moment, but your light will remove the shadows they temporarily cast in the long run.

God is so very real and He is the best friend anyone can have. He will not change His mind about the worth of your friendship. He will not flip a switch on and off when it comes to respecting you. He is all the time, all about you.
Pride will destroy the most important relationship you have with yourself and cause prejudice inside of your own heart. Do not waste precious moments on petty nonsense. People try very hard to get you to quit, but God effortlessly prevents that from happening when you listen!
Be happy, be bright, be you! When a liar tells a fib do not lie. When a snake enters the room simply smile as it slithers by. Time will reveal the truth you feel. Haters were meant to lurk at your heel.

“There is a set of harmless liars, frequently to be met with in company, who deal much in the marvellous. Their usual intention is to please and entertain; but as men are most delighted with what they conceive to be the truth, these people mistake the means of pleasing, and incur universal blame.” -David Hume
