Ring Around The Rosie

A pocket full of posies;

Ashes! Ashes!

We all fall down.

Ring Around The Rosie-Wikipedia

Much like the song we sang naively as chidren, our world seems to be singing this same familiar tune today. A song that meant pretty much nothing to me growing up except that I knew I would be getting dizzy, has my head spinning now that I am all grown up!

It is said the song was in reference to the black plague and the decline of the population in the 1880s. If i had known that back then, i probably would have refused to sing it, but I didn’t and sang it countless times while laughing and thinking it was just a silly game to play with my friends.

I found this to be almost parrallel to the way we live our lives in these days. While a majority of people are aware of the meaning of this life and why we dance, there are countless others simply spinning around in circles thinking there is nothing to the song.

God has been extremely patient in dealing with our attempts to shun Him out of society, but He has never been oblivious to our actions and will not be so leanent in holding us responsible for them when the song is over and we “all fall down”

Much of our energy is used in trying to force things which are not meant to be, attain things which are not ours, and rejecting the very things that are available for us to be happy. Now more than ever it appears people are trying their hardest to reject the very source of our existence and the One who controls this song and dance called life.

It is imperative in these times that we are aware of the meaning of the lyrics to the song we sing and understand that we will eventually fall and God will remain. There are no posies to protect us from our own actions and no remedies to the plague we willingly spread in attempts to negate God from what is His.

Do not spin around in circles while others are progressing happily and honestly with faith and compassion. So many of us feel so close to happiness, but ultimately realize we have been getting nowhere for a long time.

This new year is important and so are you! Sing your life’s song to God and let Him manifest the dance! Give others your love and attention, accept it when others love you and above all GET GOD in the process!

We are almost there. Do not get distracted by the tune. Make your lyrics count!!

Buried Alive

Why?When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me’.
Erma Bombeck

How much of ourselves do we give away to the wrong people, the wrong thoughts, the wrong way? When we wake up in the morning are we smiling or are we immediately anticipating the worst? So much of my mind gets buried alive by worry and wondering that often I neither have the strength to tend to the things that make me happy, nor the things that make God happy. It is definitely a struggle in these days, but how hard does it have to get before we feel relief? How much can one person take on their own? Life is HARD!

Hard is a delicate way to define what we all go through day in and day out. Money, power, respect, and responsibility are the sand, but it is our own way of handling these things which is the shovel. Each worrisome thought adds to the pile of problems we experience and if we are consumed by the world or our idea of it, we will be six feet under before we know it! The reality is quite different from our perception of it. Our burden is quite lighter than we feel it is. Stress is a self-imposed affliction and each time we choose to allow our problems to possess us, we willingly do ourselves harm. Ironically, after the fact, we spend much of our time blaming others or even God for our troubles, even when we are shown the outcome was much different, much better, than we assumed.

How many of us can honestly say the time we spend praying and trusting in God to remedy our situations, outweighs the time we spend worrying about what we are going to do in the midst of them? How many of us actually PRAY. When I say pray, I do not mean moan a sigh of want or bring a complaint to God’s ears, I mean PRAY. I mean refer to His words of biblical truth and rest? Scripture is extremely vital in our everyday lives and in our prayer lives. If you bring God the facts, He will hear your case as a judge would when in court and you win. God is aware of our “needs” and despite our idea of urgency, He is also aware of when we are to receive what we ask.

My child, listen to me and do as I say,
and you will have a long, good life.
I will teach you wisdom’s ways
and lead you in straight paths.
When you walk, you won’t be held back;
when you run, you won’t stumble.
Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.

-Proverbs 4:10-12

God has intended us all to do incredible things with our time here. He did not say we would be without burden, but He did promise to relieve us from it no matter what the problem might be. Life is for living, not to be spent slowly suffocating from the world and our worry. Try to remember that happy is as happy does. What are you doing with your life? If you are not giving away the gifts God has given you to be the difference in others lives, how can you be disappointed when you do not receive the blessings in return? Whatever we are lacking, someone else is lacking something too, however when we all remember how blessed we are to have our lives and each other, the focus drifts from lack to life. Don’t worry, BE HAPPY.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
Helen Keller

I Remember

This year we especially feel the weight the world presses on our shoulders. From natural disaster to unnatural massacre, the human race has been rocked hard the past 365.
Glory to God for His promises and for the weight Jesus carried and still willingly totes on our behalf. There is rest in Him, but that is the testing we must live in. Every day is a battle, as it was for the One who has already been named the victor! This CHRISTmas, I remember the Man who was, who is , and is to come.
Be blessed. Be loved. Be victorious!

Song Lyrics- Josh Garrels “SISU”

By the word and command, mortal man can stand, son of man is the manna manifest In the flesh and the blood, and the bones and the rocks, in the valley of the dead
The dry bones are gonna walk and talk
To the rhythm of the saints y’all, to the rhythm of the saints And I paint it red to remember the dead,
who layed down their lives for the truth And the seed that is buried takes root, and this ignorant world will have proof I remember the sins of my youth,
the path and the madness of unrestrained pleasure The heavier trip it made the heavier debter In the deepest of dark without a wing or a feather,
The spiral closed in like a cage, like a cage A maze that’s amazing for days turns to rage if the page it refuses to turn And the hopeless will hope the book burns
When the lesson it returns, but the lesson is still unlearned See I yearn to discern if a life can be earned or is given as a gift to the dead I read and I bled and I fed to the full my soul on the sickest of sickness
Seeking the light of a saviors witness, a way that one day that I might forget this But slave master wont permit this
Cause I’m a hooker I’m his mistress And when I look for freedom he puts more chains on me Strangles my hope so that I live like a zombie
What masters house can this be, that when I look for freedom he still deceives me If there’s a God I screamed, “Answer me!”
I didn’t expect an answer to be received, He said You must die, to be set free, living in the kingdom of God eternally Open up my eyes so that I may see….

We will all be a witness.

I wonder….

“A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.” –St. Basil

I wonder what the world would be like if we acted more like He would?
If we actually collaborated on peace instead fighting each other in the name of good.
I wonder how many lives would be blessed if we ministered more like He would?
If instead of dictating love we actually showed it like we should.
I wonder how many tears would be prevented if we encouraged more like He would?
If a picket sign and a judging eye were replaced with affirmations and an “I bet you could!”

Such a place to escape, my own little wonderland.
A place where we should be living not visiting to try and understand.
God put us here to act and not to wonder.
He intended us for great things, not take each other under.
Grace is not a gift, it was earned, but not by you or me.
It was the work of Jesus who enables us to be free.
Do not think that by being a hypocrite or an advocate that you earn your way to the throne.
It is simply by being faithful and walking in love behind the one is the way alone.
For goodness sakes poor child get your mind out of the gutter.
Get the words of love out of mouth instead of the hate you mutter.
No condemnation or confederation can grant you what you strive for.
It’s asking ” Did I give? ” and if I did I will give a little more!
I wonder if we acted more like Jesus if more people would want to know Him?
Stop talking about how much you love our God and really start to show Him!

Luke 6:36-38 – Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. And do not judge and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour into your lap. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.

We Will Rise

I John 5:4, 5 NKJV

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Better to be miserable with her than happy without her. Let our hearts break provided they break together. If the voice within us does not say this it is not the voice of Eros. C. S. Lewis

No Guts No Glory

Christian friends, your voices raise
Wake the day with gladness.
God himself to joy and praise
Turns our human sadness.
Joy that martyrs won their crown
Opened Heaven’s bright portal.
When they laid the mortal down for the life immortal.

– Song of Stephen The Martyr

“All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired, although not in the hour or in the measure, or the very thing which they ask. Yet they will obtain something greater and more glorious than they had dared to ask.” –Martin Luther

Stephen the Martyr has not always been on my top 5 most adored biblical figures list, but after researching his story in depth, I have discovered just how important his role was then and his story is now. (Click HERE to read his story in detail ). Stephen was the first Christian martyr to die for his faith, but he certainly was not the last. Stephen represents the very boldness we are to have as brothers and sisters of faith. Looking a very painful death in the face, he stayed true to what was right and even prayed for the men as they stoned him to death. Stephen knew that death was not to be feared, but anticipated because it meant he would be reunited with God.

Since Stephen’s death, countless Christians have died for their witness to the gospel. They set their eyes on Jesus and not on the world. They did not value the approval of people over the approval of their Savior. They refused to disown Jesus and because of their courage to stand up for the truth, Jesus promised to acknowledge them in the presence of His father in heaven.

So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,  but whoever denies me before men,  I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.- Matthew 10:32,33

So many times I have watched people suppress the truth of a situation to avoid a confrontation or involvement in a problem that does not concern them directly. Very much like Judas, people are so quick to turn their back if it means they will dodge the bullet. Ironically one cannot dodge the bullets of truth by using false as their shield. Truth always finds a way and God is all that is true. Although we would like to think we have gotten away with something for a moment without being caught, that simply is not true. We were caught way before we even realized we were being chased. God is not absent in the moments you feel that no one is watching. He sees all we do and He has known our hearts before they even had a beat.

The book of Acts tells us that right after the violent death of Stephen, Saul continued the persecution of the faith by chasing down it’s members and sending them to jail for similar charges. Others were later persecuted by the Roman Emperor Nero so he could blame them for a fire which destroyed most of Rome.

Sound familiar? Have you ever felt that no matter how good you are, people will not give up in trying to prove you are rotten? Have you ever witnessed something very wrong, but rationalized  why it was not your place to try to make it right? I HAVE. I used to lie all the time and so much that I started to believe my own, very twisted versions of the situation were true! I felt the knot in my stomach when I looked my family in the eye and told them I was doing great. I tried to dodge the bullets of the truth, but later when looking at myself in the mirror,  they hit me dead on and it killed me. Literally, I did not know who I was looking at, but God knew that was just what it would take to destroy my version of reality and respect Him and His.

When we accept that we will face challenging times and people in regards to our faith, it becomes a huge demonstration of our trust and faith in God and what He has told us. When we cut corners and skip out the back in times of persecution, it reflects the opposite and it appears to God as if we think we can out smart Him or out run the truth of things. WRONG. We cannot hide from the One who attends to everything and is the power sustaining and guiding our destiny. Prepare yourself for these tests of faith so that when they arise you do not find yourself in a state of fear and regretting your choices later. If you hold tight to the truth, in any given situation, you will be holding on to God and cannot lose. Be like Stephen while fighting the good fight. Team Jesus! Guaranteed KO!

The Road To Redemption

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.- Margaret Mead

Redeemer (Christianity)

Faith and fact are usually enemies, however when it comes to Jesus Christ, the two are not only close, they are inseparable. Jesus bridges the gap between hope and what we hope for, the gap between an idea and a truth. On the road to redemption Jesus is the element which delivers us from our past as well as any possible chance of remaining separate from our home in Heaven. He is our redeemer, our relief.

O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love,

and with him is plentiful redemption.

And he will redeem Israel

from all his iniquities (Psalm 130:7 – 130:8 ESV)

I used to search for this kind of relief everywhere. In a drug, in a person, through an experience, but I was unsuccessful in my attempts every time!
Each time I gave my hope away, the end of my troubles became another beginning. One more problem, one more road leading to nowhere.

How many times does a bird have to fly into a glass window to realize it is closed? In my personal experience I would say about a million! My happiness was in clear view yet when I flew fiercely toward it…BAM! I hit the glass every time. I could see my destiny just beyond the window, but could not get to it on my own.

That is when I met Jesus. I had flown into that glass so many times my wings were broken and I didn’t even feel much like flying anymore period. As I laid there defeated on the floor, I heard the latch to the window open and something lift my chin up to look above me. It was The Lord and it was immediate. The weight I had carried for so long instantly lifted. He smiled and for the first time in a long time so did I. There were no words, no conditions, simply an open window. The Lord is the one to open it. The Lord is the one who will NEVER CLOSE IT ON YOU AGAIN.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:1 – 5:2 ESV)

The Road To Redemption begins with being on the right road in the first place. If you are constantly going nowhere and left feeling like you are a nobody, perhaps you are lost? Perhaps all you need is the humility to ask for directions in order to get where you are trying to go? I lived that life a long, lonely time. My hope is to prevent others from making the same prideful mistakes I once made. One person at a time for a lifetime.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19 ESV)

My Message is about hope, the truth of the gospel and the power of our mighty God. He is our strong deliverer, our light in the dark, and He loves every single one of us on this planet. Contrary to the message of this world, His love is eternal, unyielding, and unconditional. With God first in your life, you will never be lost again. The broken become beautiful, the weak become His army and the faithful become free for eternity. The world is rough, but God is enough!

Where are you going? If the road you are on is not leading you to your best, perhaps it is best to change your course. Only God can lead you to peace. The question is will you allow Him to lead? God in turn will prove it to you. The road to redemption is a universal one. We are all able to walk together towards forever. God bless you!
