Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:29-31 NKJV)
When we think of the way the world works we automatically assume it is really working in the first place. To work means to function properly. Come to think about it, it is about the farthest thing from the truth when describing our way of life at this point. Functional does not mean necessarily reliable or real it just means in working order.
How many of us are working? How many of us are functional, but not happy or just barely going through the motions?
There has to be care and effort involved for anything to truly work. A relationship, an idea, a career or a connection spiritually. Without that attention, the results are broken marriages, losing your job or spot on the team because another person invested more and was rewarded. We all can go through the motions, but where is your heart at?
People know when someone means what they say or says what they mean by the results produced when doing so, not solely on the promise. God knows It all and knows what we invest in making it in this world. He sees those that are working for their hearts desires and those that simply function because of desires or want.
We are required of little else than to keep God first and be good people because we love and respect others and ourselves. This has become even too taxing on the one who wants it all yet does nothing. We all do a measurable amount of harm to others and a disservice to God by trying to function instead of work at it. Hope is choked to death by power and power is plotting it’s next victim which is love.
Power means nothing to those that think they have it. Power means everything to those that thought they had it and were mistaken. Ironically, none of us as human beings have any power at all on our own. God is the One who supplies us with the talent, the pathway, and the harvest. Without Him, without love, we are nothing. With Him, with a love and a passion for our lives and Him, we have a power that cannot be taken by anyone. The result is a movement working together to change this hollow experience of living into a powerful, purposeful existence. The alternative is what you see happening to a world that tries to take and not invest. Our present situation as a country is the best way to define a functioning, failing, and powerless kingdom. God and His Way are the only way to define ALWAYS working. A WAY that if simply invested in, works for us all.
