“It’s like gambling somehow. You go out for a night of drinking and you don’t know where your going to end up the next day. It could work out good or it could be disastrous. It’s like the throw of the dice.” -Jim Morrison
I remember bright lights and the smell of stale smoke,
I remember the noise of the casino and thinking life was a joke.
Drugs in my veins and the taste of vodka on my lips,
The devil had me right at his fingertips.
Always was with a man and had cards in my hand,
I was terribly naive then.
I was gambling with my very own life and losing big time to sin.
One more drink, one more hit, one more time the enemy pleaded,
Dangling my sanity right in front of me and saying this is what I needed.
“In all things there are three choices: Yes, No and no choice, except in this — I either choose the truth or I am deceit.” -Unknown
“As in the rankest soil the most beautiful flowers are grown, so in the dark soil of poverty the choicest flowers of humanity have developed and bloomed.” -James Allen
I wanted so badly just to hear God’s voice,
Instead drugs had silenced Him and it was me who made that choice.
“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. (Deuteronomy 30:15 NLT)
God, He never left me…
Not even once did He let me go.
Even when I made it clear that away from Him is where I’d rather go.
It was 8 years ago when I chose to surrender my life to Lord completely,
Stories like these are only part of my testimony.
I have never left Him again,
Not even once have I let Him go.
I have made it my life’s work to make sure others know.
There is a way through the muck and the miles,
A relief from the suffering that robs our smiles.
Choose wisely and you will avoid these scars,
Collapse is inevitable when building your house of cards.
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth (1 John 1:5 – 1:6 NLT)
